Colourful Madeira

Flying into Funchal, Madeira was one of the scariest moments of my life. The wind was blowing a gale and the aeroplane was jumping up and down. People were shrieking with horror as the plane did somersaults in the air. After about 30 minutes of sheer terror we were able to land. This was our introduction to Madeira. We spent a week at the swanky Savoy Saccharum Resort and Spa which I would recommend to anyone planning a chilled out vacation. Everything you need is on hand and you don’t have to leave the hotel if the mood takes your fancy. Madeira itself is relaxed and friendly with plenty of bars and restaurants. The weather is nice and warm so you can forget the autumn chill of England. If you like to explore, and there is plenty to see, then you definitely need a car otherwise just stay in the hotel and relax.
